About SurvBase

CFedS Certification

John Kerr, PLS of SurvBase, LLC, has successfully completed training and examination for the Certified Federal Surveyor (CFedS) designation issued by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. The examination follows approximately 120 hours of required coursework and certifies John's qualifications to survey native lands in compliance with federal BLM and BIA regulations and policies.  BLM and BIA are actively encouraging all native entities to utilize firms that have CFedS surveyors. Currently, there are 178 CFedS nationally and only 20 in Alaska. See www.cfeds.org for additional information.

SurvBase was founded by John Kerr, PLS, CFedS and Steve Buchanan, PLS.

John has worked as a Right-of-Way Engineer and Survey Manager for DOT/PF, private sector firms, and the ANTHC. He has also taught digital cartography classes at University of Alaska Anchorage.  Learn more about John here.
